urban wasteland: ubiquitous shopping in singapore.

ghetto pseudo tour guide quest's end *yawn* greeness & the golf club

the phone in our ghetto hotel room refused to make 1-800 calls, so i spent a lot of time of these orange things making long distance phone calls to rosemead, ca.
you know you're bored if the best thing you can think of doing is going to some botanical garden.
and here we are.
food would be nice first though. these signs are the best.
i thought these were sleazy street vendors. thailand redefined the term.
some thing that i still don't know how to pronounce along with a sugarcane drink.
mutton = lamb i think.
chin eating some random dessert.
and the boredom begins.
notice how empty it is around here. this place is very popular.
no tadpoles, no frogs. *yawn*
writing captions for all these pictures will be quite a challenge.
so all the plants have these little descriptions on them, but then they also have these huge borders around certain things so you can't walk up to them. bad design.
i'm lucky i don't pay for film.
or have to get it developed. these pictures might put someone to sleep.
i'm sure you are just scrolling by now. but hey you can't ignore this huuuuuuuge tree!!
or this one.
or yet another one. i'm sure the botanists in the world are hating me right now. haha..
geez, these are boring.
oh lookee here, we have the national orchid garden. the orchid is singapore's national flower by the way. but not all orchids, just special orchids i'm told. haha...
chin made a reference to weeds somewhere along the way and since i love to misquote people, let's quote him: "these orchids look like a bunch of weeds." yeah, close enough.
i grew up in hawaii where orchids are abundant. this garden was unimpressive. i guess i was expecting something outrageous, you know like a huuuuge array of orchids in a field planted with such precision and regularity that they stir up images of the droid army in star wars: the phantom menace. no such luck here.
instead, we just had random orchids planted rather uninspiringly. that's probably not a word, but do i care? nooooo! alanm says: adverbs are baaaad (another misquote).
i could have been using this time to sleep. *sigh*
oooooh, the vip orchids!! seeing the letter vip reminds me of a rave (tribal massive) that leming and i went to where there was actually a "vip room", in fact the only room that played trance. that party was terrible.
breaking the rules. as usual. i'm back in the us now. la, la, la...
oh joy.
i think if we had a few vokda martinis before going on this little tour, things might have been more interesting.
green boredom.
and more.
another rule broken.
this is getting really boring.
green stuff.
more. take me to gift shop please!
the mist house. yippee!!
whatever.
sprinkled amongst the plants are various scultures of scary looking animals. the highlight of the tour no doubt.
ooooooh, scaaaaaary.
this little fountain looks like something you'd find in a sharper image store of something selling for $299.95.
after finally escaping the singapore botanical garden from hell, we met up with yuina (full shot!) for a fine dinner at .. err... shrooms!
chin knows all about shrooms.
sipping on expensive drinks such as mediocre lychee martinis. alchohol is heavily taxed in singapore. at zouk, i had a $12 usd long island iced tea. insane!
yuina (right) and her cousin, mabel. they're both very cool.
when i first met this guy, my feet were ready to fall off and my lungs were ready to burst from all the smoke at zouk. i then took a $5 usd taxi ride one block down the street back to my hotel. it's not surprising then that i don't remember his name.
parking meter issues. we were off to dbl o and other clubs on mohammed sultan road. i was terribly ill though so i bailed after only an hour or so.
yuina checking out the stickers.
look at all those stickers!! apparently, people put all kinds of things on their windshield: golf club sticker, price club member, nsync fan club sticker, etc.
