when sessions were over, the hpca banquet was held at this restaurant which was located really far away. a long journey for what i thought was fairly mediocre food.

the berkeley crowd chose a spot in the corner of the room. wouldn't you know this was exactly where the stanford people from bill dally's group had set up camp.
kim and gene at the table. they recently got engaged.
a minor disaster.

we drank everything they gave us including this champagne.
starving from the long bus ride, even this duck liver tasted pretty good. looking at it now, it doesn't look terribly appetizing, does it?
duck, veal, duck, veal, duck, this time veal.
and a salad. what a waste of energy.

speaking like a pretentious san francisco restaurant revierwer, "desserts were uninspired".
but we sure drank a lot.
no carafe was spared, all glasses were emptied.
pascal had asked me if i was planning to take some photos at the banquet. sorry pascal, most of the shots i took didn't turn out.
on the bus back to toulouse.
